IMDb’s free, ad-supported streaming service is finally a standalone mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android in the US. A subsidiary owned by Amazon released IMDb TV apps for the LG Smart TV, PlayStation 4, NVIDIA Shield and TiVo Stream 4K in March, following a recent expansion on Rock. So far, you’ve had to launch the IMDb app to access the service offering on your mobile device

The release of standalone apps could provide the service with greater reach and put it on the radar of more potential viewers. After all, Amazon could have big plans for IMDb TV in the future. According to reports which came out last year, the company wants to make the free service available internationally. Mexico and the UK could be the first regions to gain access to the platform outside the US, and if all goes well, IMDb TV could expand to Latin America and other European countries.

IMDb TV offers free access to popular shows and movies like Chicago Fire,, Everyone in the family,, A wolf from Wall Street i How to train a dragon. It also gives you access to Amazon Originals made specifically for the platform, including crime drama Lever: Redemption.
