R2-D2 is now Tamagotchi that you will forget about

R2-D2 could be the most beloved character as a whole Star Wars universe. But some might change their attitude about the adorable droid if it gets too boring in its last form: a Tamagotchi.

Disney and Bandai have teamed up to bring Arto into the pockets of fans who don’t mind exercising, cleaning and taking care of the necessary, digital version of the droid wherever they are. The egg-shaped R2-D2 Tamagotchi will be available in two color schemes. There is a mostly white model that looks like a droid and a transparent blue model. As you can expect from Tamagotchi, you will communicate with the toy using three physical buttons.

Artoo has 19 skills to learn. You will need to keep it full and clean. It is still unclear whether this version is R2-D2 . Engadget asked Lucasfilm if the Tamagotchi version of R2-D2 was, in fact, poop.

You can play nine mini-games with it, including firefighting and Dejarika (or holochess). If you don’t make the droid happy, some Javas might arrive to take him away.

We have long been away from Tamagotchi’s peak. The digital pet was everywhere in the late ’90s and early 2000s until it popped out of the cultural zeitgeist. There were other Tamagotchi crossroads. A model based on Evangelion Neon Genesis hit the U.S. earlier this year. Collaboration in Star Wars could help revive the brand, but certainly a model based on Grog Baby Yoda) from Mandalorian it would fit better.

Pre-orders are open for R2-D2 Tamagotchi at midnight ET on August 3rd. The toy will arrive on November 11.
