Fox Foundation (MJFF) say they have developed a program that can predict how the symptoms of a Parkinson’s patient will progress in terms of both time and severity. The breakthrough would not have been possible without Parkinson’s initiative to mark progression, a study sponsored by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. IBM describes the dataset, which includes information on more than 1,400 individuals, as “the largest and best volume of longitudinal Parkinson’s patient data to date” and says it allowed its AI model to map complex patterns of symptoms and progression.

Parkinson’s disease is estimated to affect more than 6 million people globally, and there is currently no known cure for it. IBM Research and MJFF plan to continue working on the AI ​​model. In the future, they hope to improve it by providing more detailed characteristics of different stages of the disease.
