Twitter is the latest social media platform experimenting with the new shopping opportunities. The company allows several brands to place the “Store Module” at the top of their profiles leading to products that their followers can buy.
While it is no the first time Twitter tried shopping options, it was the first time the company had included shopping directly in the profile. By changing, companies can highlight a handful of products in a carousel between the main profile information and their timeline. This feature is limited to a few brands, including GameStop and bag maker Arden Cove, for now in the US.
Although so far Twitter has not been as aggressive about shopping as some other platforms, the company recently announced that this could change soon. Purchase button for tweets was also spotted, and the company recently unveiled new “business profiles”. Buying opportunities could also have interesting implications for creators, Demographic Twitter recently announced to force with new money-making opportunities. Allowing creators to present their existing store with their profile could further increase and help the company compete with Facebook creator stores.
