Cam Shapinghifting Cam Girl rewrites the rules of digital pornography

Somewhere late In 2019, Diana Deets began to change her face. Instagram influencer and adult content creator OnlyFans, authored by Coconut Kitty, Deets looked like a woman in her late twenties to mid-thirties until then. In her new paintings, however – while her body remained unchanged – her face gradually grew into something beyond: her chin became pointed, her lips puffed into perma-puff, her eyes became larger and limp. Some claimed she looked much younger. Some said she looked like a teenager.

Deets fans appreciated the transformation. She says she had about 700,000 followers on Instagram before the change, and have since “exponentially” grown to over 3 million. On the OnlyFans channel, where she posts explicit pictures and videos of her new face as well, Deets has gathered 10,700 subscribers who pay £ 8 ($ 11) a month –80 percent of that goes directly to her.

But someone else also noticed the metamorphosis. In October 2020, people on Reddit began to argue how Deets apparently used digital editing to transform herself into a “prepubertal” girl, and many described the move as “disturbing”. In early July 2021, the popular Dan TikToker Bekah posted a video throwing out a coconut kitten for modifying her facial features to look “like a young teenager,” flatly accusing her of agreeing to a cohort with a “p-word” (i.e., a pedophile). This was followed by several other videos from various TikTokers, which were rife about the allegations. Deets says they are all “hilarious” and “wrong.” She complains that she received “a lot” of messages of hatred and threats, and after the controversy she lost one of her sponsors, Fashion Nova. Fashion Nova did not respond to a request for comment.

In her retelling, the fit of her face into the cartoon youthful simulacrum Coconut Kitty is at the intersection of privacy and performance. Deets says she was tired of being recognized by public fans in public, and that on top of that she was looking for a way to develop her profile to sell her paintings. So she tried a visual modification – “I’m a completely self-taught digital artist,” says Deets. “I started trying out these editing programs, messing with them,” she says of her digitally altered personality. Deets is skeptical about the exact techniques he uses, but what we do know is that a new Coconut Kitty was born in the end. (Since then, Deets has given up capitalizing on selling her paintings. She says most of the potential buyers who came in contact with her didn’t seem like “art connoisseurs” and seemed more interested in chatting with her.)

Deets denies that he deliberately shot because of his teenage or even youthful appearance. The inspiration for Coconut Kitty’s face, she says, came more from anime characters or Disney princesses – who are really very young (Snow White is 14, Jasmine is 15 years old, while Ariel and Aurora are 16 years old), but above all, says Deets, paragons are idealized female beauties.

“Let’s look at their eyes, their beards,” Deets says of Disney princesses. “Do they have a youthful face? I had no intention of agreeing to a youthful face. I was just trying to take care of a character’s face. Coconut Kitty is no different from Jessica Rabbit – a fictional character, a fantasy. “

Any argument that Deets satisfies pedophiles is hard to support. Henry Adjer, an expert in deep fake and digital media, says it is almost impossible to pinpoint the age of a person. “In some cases, you can claim that the face is obviously too young. But I don’t think so [Deets’s] is in that place. You would probably argue that [Coconut Kitty’s] the face is certainly 16 and over, probably 18 or 19, ”he says. “I don’t think there’s a way to definitely say how old a face is.” (Deets won’t say how old she is in real life).
