It was announced by the parent company Nokia HMD Global huge redesign of Nokia phone earlier this year, and now the company has officially announced it the first Nokia X series the phone is is coming to the US next month.
The $ 550 XR20, which hits the market on August 24, is the most expensive phone in the updated Nokia portfolio. Nokia claims that the XR20, which boasts solid specs and potentially better durability than other mid-range phones, is the first phone to be “life-resistant”.
HMD / Nokia last week posted on Twitter an announcement suggesting that the XR20 is an attempt to fulfill the legendary durability offered by Nokia’s older phones.
The XR20 has a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus screen, which is said to be four times more scratchesit is resistant to a typical smartphone screen, and a case that HMD says can withstand drops of up to six feet without a case.
HMD too claims that the XR20 has been tested to operate at temperatures above 131 degrees Fahrenheit or up to -4 degrees, with water resistance that can withstand immersion for up to five meters during the hour. In a stunt to prove how solid the XR20 is, Nokia / HMD gave a phone to famous footballers Robert Carlos and Lisa Zimouche to hit, travel and turn the phone on various surfaces and conditions.
TThe XR20 has a 6.67-inch 2400 x 1080 display powered by a Snapdragon 480 5G chip with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a built-in microSD carda lot. For cameras you get 8 MP hole punch selfie camera on the front and the main camera of 48 MP, and rear ultra wide camera of 13 MP. The XR20 also gets support for some of Nokia’s PPE technology for surround audio and noise cancellation.
Like all good and cheap phones and mid-range phones, the XR20 also has a USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm wired port, plus 15 W wireless charging ia 4,630 mAh battery. And what could end up as the lowestwith the esteemed upgrade, HMD says the XR20 will receive a full four years of monthly security patches, along with up to three years of software upgrades.
Tthe XR20 is neither nearly as striking nor innovative as some of Nokia’s more premium phones in recent years, but it’s nice to see Nokia / HMD trying to get back to its roots with a simple, well-designed phone that’s made to last.
Nokia XR20 will be available in two colors (Ultra Blue and Granite Gray) when it arrives next month.
