Although you know all the Hanna-Barber cartoons that will appear HBO Max is coming Jellystone, the series re-imagines them as happy-happy (though somewhat unhappy) citizens of the bustling metropolis where Huckleberry Hound is mayor. During Jellystone panel on San Diego Comic-Con @ Home 2021, executive producer CH Greenblatt, supervising director Ian Wasseluk, Jeff Bergman (Yogi Bear), Grace Helbig (Cindy Bear) and Niccole Thurman (Jabberjaw) sat down to discuss the show’s approach to inventing their classic characters for a modern audience.
Greenblatt explained this, even though the show draws the entire audience Hanna-Barbera canon, much of the comedy show has shaped his penchant for shows like Laugh Olympics where the characters would they often appear together in different situations. “The original idea was to create a bunch of shorts similar to what they did with Looney Tunes shorts, ”Greenblatt explained. “And so I spent some time working on the characters, and the more I played with them, the more we realized that the best part about Hanna-Barber’s characters was the whole world and their breadth.”
In addition to a number of new images from Jellystone, the creative team also shared a first look at the scene from the series, which we got solely for your viewing pleasure.
