Verizon (the parent company of Engadget) is expanding the availability of its Fios application. In an noticed , said the carrier, starting tomorrow, July 22, Fios customers can download the software to their Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV devices. In the first case, it includes 4K and HD models.
You will still need Fios TV One somewhere in your home to be able to access the app on these devices, but it saves you the hassle of paying for extra hardware from your mobile operator if you want to use your TV package on multiple TVs.
“Parents can watch live sports events on the Fios box in the living room, while children watch cartoons, and teenagers watch comedies on connected TVs in their bedrooms,” Verizon said. “With the Fios TV One allowing more flexibility, Fios TV users can more easily place TVs in the kitchen, on the back terrace or other parts of the house.”
One limitation is that you can only watch two simultaneous broadcasts per Fios TV box, but the Fios TV One is now included in all Verizon Mix and Match TV plans. They currently start at $ 56 a month before taxes and equipment fees.
