Venmo has grown into much more than a simple payment platform, and the company has redesigned its application to reflect that. Company has introduced a revised application for Android i iOS which throws a global feed, which featured random publicly shared payments between people in favor of a friend’s feed that shows what’s going on with your close connections. Not surprisingly, the company added additional emphasis to privacy after the discovery Venmo account of President Joe Biden was publicly visible.
In the meantime, the new lower navigation section is designed to expose features you may not have considered before. The Cards button connects both credit i indebtedness options, while the dedicated Crypto button surprises you by inviting you to get started cryptocurrency trading.
There is a strictly practical improvement. You now get a “complete” view of your wallet, activities, and settings via your personal feed. Venmo also wants to emphasize recent privacy upgrades, although that redesign won’t change much. New types of payments and extended purchase protections introduced last month should begin to be introduced this week as well.
It may take several weeks for the refreshed Venmo app to reach your device. It is too early to say whether interface changes will be more beneficial to you or Venma. There is no doubt that they reflect a reorientation of the company’s priorities – cash transfers are only part of a larger strategy to manage as much of your financial life as possible.
