Deezer’s 360-degree sound comes to Sony Reality Audio speakers

With his 360 by Deezer application, Deezer decided to adopt Sony Reality 360 audio format, not Dolby Atmos. This format provides surround sound not only on headphones, but also on Chromecast-enabled speakers, such as Sony’s SRS-RA5000 and 360-enabled RA3000. Now Deezer has announced that it supports these two models with its new casting function.

If you subscribe to Deezer’s premium HiFi layer and own a Sony RA5000 or RA3000, you’ll just need to get the latest version 360 by Deezer, select a song, and select the “cast” button in the upper right corner. While it’s just one speaker, here you’ll present different parts of the song as different “independent sound” objects, ”Deezer said, with vocals and instruments“ placed in positions in the virtual auditorium to create a truly compelling experience for the listener.

Deezer originally launched the app in 2019 with 1000 songs and said the library is growing with new albums by David Bowie, Doje Cat and Alicia Keyes. You can now find dedicated 360 editorial playlists on the app’s recommendations page, including Deezer’s “360 Sessions” playlist featuring performances by Duo Lipa, Anne-Marie, Circa Waves and others.

Sony’s 360 Reality Audio was already available on the RA5000 and RA3000 speakers via Chromecast on Amazon Music and Tidal. Now that it’s on Deezer as well, Sony has a pretty solid base of streaming services using its surround sound technology.
