Sixteen months after the last event with the live audience, (CDL) is again opening its doors fans. The Stage V Major tournament takes place at the end of the month and will host the first live matches with fans since March 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to everything.
All 12 CDL teams are expected to participate in the tournament, which runs from July 29 to August 1. It takes place at the Esports Arlington Stadium in Texas, home of the 2020 season champions Dallas Empire. Fans will be able to attend for the past two days, with a weekend ticket costing $ 59. League without fans last month.
CDL i (OWL), both run by Activision Blizzard, planned to hold matches in each team’s hometown in 2020. That format didn’t last long before the leagues were forced to for the season. It was a significant blow for both, but perhaps more so for the CDL, which has just begun its first season. Esports is much more comfortable with a crowd of people, and the future is brighter for live events.
Meanwhile, OWL is holding several fan events in China this season. Envy Gaming, which owns Dallas Empire and Dallas Fuel of OWL, at the Esports Stadium in Arlington last month with Fuel performing on stage and the presence of Overwatch League fans.
